What Pizzanet offers restaurants
Pizzanet connects customers with local restaurants. You get your own restaurant page where customers can browse the menu, order and pay online. The restaurant handles delivery and customer service itself.
- Free registration and use. No monthly fees, no setup costs.
- 5 % commission on online payments only. Cash and in-person card payments cost nothing to Pizzanet.
- Payouts go directly to your restaurant bank account via Stripe. Pizzanet never holds your money.
- The restaurant handles delivery, customer service and food quality.
- You can stop using Pizzanet at any time. No commitments.
What you need
Device
An Android smartphone or tablet, version 7 or newer. A tablet is more practical because the screen is bigger.
Printer (recommended)
A Bluetooth thermal printer that supports ESC/POS. 58 mm or 80 mm paper width. A printer frees your hands for cooking when receipts print automatically.
Business details
Business ID, company form (e.g. sole trader or limited), IBAN bank account, photo of an ID document. Required for Stripe Know Your Customer compliance.
Internet connection
4G is enough but WiFi is more reliable. Without internet, orders will not reach the app.
Step 1
Registration
Registration takes a few minutes. Use your restaurant's official details, as they are shown to customers and required for Stripe verification.
- Download the "Pizzanet for restaurants" app. Links are on the Pizzanet downloads page.
- Open the app and choose "Register".
- Fill in basic info: restaurant name, address, city, postal code, email, phone, business ID.
- Verify your email by clicking the link sent to you.
- The Pizzanet team reviews and approves your application, usually within 1-2 business days. You will receive an email when registration is approved.
Step 2
Online payment setup (Stripe)
Filling out the Stripe form takes about 10 minutes.
Pizzanet uses Stripe as the payment processor. By law, the restaurant must complete a KYC (Know Your Customer) check before it can accept online payments. This is Stripe's legally required check, not Pizzanet's.
What to have ready before you start
- Owner personal identity number.
- Business ID and company form. If you are a sole trader, mention this separately.
- Business bank account IBAN. The account holder must match the business ID holder.
- Photo of ID document (passport, driver's license or ID card). Both sides if it is a card.
- Official business address and website URL. You may use your Pizzanet page URL (https://pizzanet.fi/ravintola/your-slug) if you do not have your own website.
Steps
- Open the app, go to the Payments tab, and click "Start Stripe registration".
- The app opens Stripe's own form.
- Submit the form. Stripe processes 1-5 business days.
- You will receive an email when ready.
Form was abandoned: how do I continue
Open the app again, go to the Payments tab and click "Continue registration". You will receive a new link that continues where you left off. Old links expire after a few days, so always request a new one through the app.
What Pizzanet and Stripe charge
- Pizzanet: 5 % of the online payment total. This includes the delivery fee.
- Stripe: roughly 1.4 % + 0.25 € per card transaction (domestic cards). Foreign cards and other methods can be slightly higher.
- Cash and in-person card payments: no Pizzanet costs.
Example: 50 € online order. Pizzanet share 2.50 €, Stripe share approx. 0.95 €, restaurant share approx. 46.55 €.
Payouts
Payments go directly to your own Stripe account and from there to your bank on Stripe's schedule, usually 1-3 business days delay. Pizzanet never holds your funds.
Step 3
Menu
There are two ways to add your menu. AI scanning is usually fastest, but you can also add manually.
A) Manual entry
In the app: Menu, Add category (e.g. "Pizzas", "Kebabs", "Drinks"), Add item, then enter name, price and description.
B) AI scanning (recommended)
Take a photo of your menu with the "Scan menu" feature. Pizzanet uses Anthropic Claude to read items, prices and descriptions automatically from the image. Then review and fix any errors.
Step 4
Opening hours and order methods
Opening hours
Set hours per weekday. If you are open past midnight (e.g. Friday 18:00 to 02:00 Saturday), set the closing time as 02:00 on the Friday row. The system detects the midnight crossing automatically.
Order methods
You can offer three methods: pickup, dine-in and home delivery. Pick one or more. Customers see only the methods you have enabled.
Home delivery: required settings
If you accept home delivery, you must configure either delivery zones OR a maximum distance. Without one of these, delivery orders are not accepted. This prevents loss-making orders from too far away.
Option A: Zones
Define multiple distance ranges and prices. Example: 0-3 km costs 4 €, 3-6 km costs 6 €, 6-10 km costs 8 €. The customer sees the price automatically based on their address.
Option B: Flat fee and maximum distance
A single fixed delivery fee charged within a given distance. Example: 5 € and max 5 km. Simpler but less flexible.
Minimum order amount
You can set a minimum order amount for home delivery (e.g. 15 €). Customers cannot order under it. This helps keep delivery profitable.
Step 5
Printer
Order receipts can be printed on a Bluetooth thermal printer or viewed only on the app screen. A printer is strongly recommended because it frees your hands for cooking and the receipt stays with you the whole prep time.
Compatibility: the printer must support ESC/POS and Bluetooth. Most thermal printers sold for restaurant use support this. If unsure, check the product description for "ESC/POS".
Pairing
- Charge the printer fully and turn it on.
- Enable Bluetooth in your phone settings.
- Open the app, go to Settings, Printer, and click "Search for devices".
- Pick your printer from the device list.
- Click "Print test receipt".
- If the test receipt prints, the printer is set up. New orders print automatically.
Step 6
Order lifecycle
When a customer places an order, the chain below happens. Understanding this helps you react correctly at each step.
- Customer fills the order in the Pizzanet app or website and pays via Stripe.
- Stripe reserves the money on the customer's card (not yet charged).
- Your app beeps and shows the new order.
- Accept or reject the order within 5 minutes.
- On accept: Stripe charges the card, the receipt prints automatically, food preparation starts.
- Update the order status as it progresses: preparing, ready, delivered.
- The customer receives push notifications about each status change.
Note: the 5-minute rule
If you neither accept nor reject within 5 minutes, the system automatically rejects the order and refunds the customer. The app beeps repeatedly every 30 seconds as a reminder so no order is missed. Do not turn off the phone or close the app while open.
Refunds
You can refund the customer from the dashboard. Stripe processes the refund in 5-10 days. Pizzanet's 5 % commission is also returned automatically if the full amount is refunded.
Opening and closing for the day
Opening
- Open the app.
- Check that push notifications are allowed (shown as a top banner if not).
- Toggle "Accepting orders" on.
- Customers now see the "Order online" badge on the homepage.
Closing
- Toggle "Accepting orders" off.
- Verify all open orders are marked delivered.
- You can now close the app or set the phone to silent.
How "Order online" appears to customers
The "Order online" badge appears on the homepage restaurant card only when three conditions are true: Stripe is active, "Accepting orders" is on, and you are within opening hours right now. If you are closed by hours, the badge does not show even if the toggle is on.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Pizzanet cost?
Registration and using the app is fully free. Pizzanet takes 5 % of online payment totals. Stripe's own processing fees are separate (approx. 1.4 % + 0.25 €).
Can I cancel Pizzanet usage?
Yes, at any time. Toggle "Accepting orders" off to stop receiving orders. If you want to remove your restaurant entirely, contact Pizzanet support. There are no commitments.
Who handles customer complaints?
The restaurant. Pizzanet is an ordering platform that mediates the order and payment. Customer service, food quality and delivery are the restaurant's responsibility.
Can I refund an order?
Yes, from the app dashboard with one tap. Stripe returns the funds to the customer in 5-10 days.
Do I need a separate Stripe account, or does Pizzanet create one for me?
Pizzanet creates a Stripe Express account for you automatically when you start payment setup from the Payments tab in the app. You only fill in the Stripe KYC form with your own details. You do not need a separate Stripe login.
Can I take delivery orders without my own delivery service?
Pizzanet does not provide a delivery service. You must handle delivery yourself or arrange it with a third-party courier.
What if the customer never picks up?
You can mark the order as not picked up in the app. Under Stripe rules, the funds usually stay with the restaurant since the order was prepared as agreed. You may at your discretion choose to refund all or part of it for goodwill.
Does Pizzanet support coupons or discount codes?
Coupon codes are not currently available. You can lower prices directly on the menu if you want to run a promotion.
What languages does Pizzanet support?
The customer website is translated into eight languages: Finnish, English, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish, Somali, Persian and Kurdish. The mobile apps (both the customer app and the restaurant app) are in Finnish and English.
What if I don't have my own website?
Pizzanet creates your own restaurant page automatically (e.g. pizzanet.fi/ravintola/your-slug). You can use it as your official site.
Troubleshooting
The most common problems and their solutions. If you cannot find an answer here, contact Pizzanet support.
"Order online" badge does not appear on the homepage
Three conditions must be true simultaneously. First, Stripe registration is complete and online payments are active. Second, "Accepting orders" is on. Third, you are within opening hours right now. Check all three. If Stripe is incomplete, finish its registration.
Orders do not reach the app even though everything looks on
Check: internet connection works, push notification permission is granted in phone settings, "Do not disturb" is off, and "Accepting orders" is really on. Restart the app if the issue continues.
Printer does not print
Check: paper roll is loaded, printer is on, battery is not empty, Bluetooth is on on both devices, printer is within 5 meters of the phone. Try the "Print test receipt" button in settings. If the test fails, unpair and pair again.
Customer cannot place a home delivery order
Check that you have set either delivery zones OR a maximum distance in settings. Without one of these, delivery orders are not accepted. This is a deliberate safeguard: previously without settings, anyone from anywhere could order delivery at the same fee, causing losses to the restaurant.
Stripe form shows status "incomplete"
Open the app, go to the Payments tab and click "Continue registration". You will get a new link that resumes where you left off. Complete the remaining fields and submit. Stripe processes 1-5 business days.
Customer did not receive an email confirmation
Ask the customer to check spam. Pizzanet sends confirmations automatically, but Gmail and Outlook can classify them as spam if the customer has not received Pizzanet messages before. If the issue recurs, contact support.
Push notifications do not arrive even though everything is on
Check phone battery optimization settings. Set "Pizzanet for restaurants" outside battery optimization: Settings, Battery, Battery optimization, Pizzanet, Do not optimize.
Price change is not visible to customers even though I updated it
Pizzanet caches the menu for performance, but saving your change clears the cache immediately. The change is usually visible to customers almost right away, at most within a couple of minutes. If it does not show, reload the customer page. If the problem persists, contact support.
